  • Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences - Denmark
Data from the five Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, has been generated as a result of a joint Nordic project initiated by Dr Stefan Adalsteinsson, director of the Nordic Gene Bank for Farm Animals until he retired 1 January, 1997. The Nordic Council
of Ministers has contributed with financial support for the project.
Data from Denmark, Iceland, Norway and Sweden is complementary, that is the same animals have been typed with different markers in the Danish and Norwegian labs. The data on the database cannot distinguish which data came from which lab, and contact names etc. refer to where the DNA is being held or was isolated initially.
